Purina and Pedigree, for example, are both well-established brands, so if faced with a choice between the two, which one would you choose?  There is no outright scale that you can use to determine which brands are superior, but comparing nutrient content and other distinguishing factors between the two brands is always a good place to start.

In terms of protein content, Purina One is the superior brand. It contains 31.6% protein compared to the 24.9% protein content in Pedigree dry dog food products. In the wet food category, Purina still has a higher protein content at 45.3% compared to Pedigree’s 41.5%.
